The Level 3 Communications® Network today operates as one of the largest IP transit networks in North America and Europe.
The Level 3® Network was designed to maximize coverage, performance, flexibility and scalability. They offer more long-haul and metro route options than other providers. In addition to their intercity route miles, they give customers access to approximately 27,000 metropolitan route miles.
Their high-capacity, nationwide backbone was recently overbuilt with new DWDM, IP and private-line switching layers. Level 3 technology deployments have enabled new, market-leading services like 10 GigE LAN PHY and 40 Gbps Wavelength services.

InterNAP
Using its patented technology and the existing Internet network infrastructure, Internap created an innovative way to route data and avoid the Internet’s points of congestion. Rather than relying on access to a single Internet Service Provider (ISP), the Internap® Performance IP service intelligently routes across major Internet backbones via the Internap P-NAP facilities. This insulates traffic from the risk of network outages, providing reliable, stable and consistent connectivity.
Internap has developed proprietary route control platforms that overcome the limitations of traditional routing policies. Their technology monitors the performance of each Internet backbone, routing your traffic across the best path to provide faster and more reliable delivery than traditional routing methods. The Internap route control technology considers path characteristics like latency, packet loss, route stability and congestion when making routing decisions. Decisions are made dynamically and automatically to account for network performance changes, without the need for manual intervention.
